Benefits of working at Brilli Salon, A Style Lounge
Brilli Salon, a Style Lounge wants employees who are invested, so Brilli wants to invest in you. Systems and rules are in place to create an organized, exciting yet calm environment.
Mission Statement
Brilli Salon, A Style Lounge: An upscale boutique salon specializing in stunning modern cut and color and result oriented skin care, with a luxurious yet friendly ambiance. The Style Lounge plays host to Style Lounge parties and charity events amid a gallery concept showcasing local art and handpicked downtempo music.
Brilli Salon is committed to being the best at providing the most excellent, modern beauty services in Chicago. An emphasis is placed on upholding standards of excellence in client satisfaction and to bond with the community through giving back. Always striving to evolve, reinvent, and inspire clients as well as employees; and have fun doing it.
Incredible Positive Energy and Teamwork
Owner Brenda Berry takes great pride and care in hiring positive people, whether it is for the reception desk or behind the chair. The vibe of the salon is warm and friendly. The staff is fun, helpful and teamwork oriented, making work a pleasure.
An open door policy is always in effect to maximize the internal positive energy. Staff is encouraged to communicate under the policy of “Honesty Without Consequence”, meaning that all suggestions and criticism is heard without judgment and negative reactions.
The Style Lounge Concept
The physical aesthetics of the salon are a result of Brenda Berry’s Style Lounge concept. Clients relax among custom art by local artists and sip on cocktails for that sexy lounge feel. The Style Lounge plays host to parties revolved around charity events, hair design, fashion and fun. Originally announced on Daily Candy, one party was the “Hot Rod, How to Curl Your Own Hair” party, in which Stylists taught clients curling techniques in a laid back lounge party setting. (The parties/classes have also proven to build Stylists books with returning clients.)
The Style Lounge playlist boasts over twenty hours of hand picked music ranging from downtempo electronica to 70’s soul to the occasional radio hit remix. Every song is chosen with the purpose of complimenting the visuals and service provided with eclectic sounds, encouraging clients to relax and employees to work in style.
The lighting was chosen with the critical expertise of an independent lighting consultant. The task lighting above the stations makes it ideal for the stylists to work and see “true” hair color closest to natural sunlight. The soft ambient light by the stations makes the client’s skin look flattering in the mirror. The paint color chosen for the walls also contributes to clients and stylists viewing true color, which is vital for a salon specializing in hair color.
The flooring material and cherry wood coloring was chosen based on aesthetic beauty for the Style Lounge and the ease of standing and working all day. The nature of Pergot’s cushioning from the top to the layer of extra cushioning below offers one of the most user friendly surfaces for a hair dresser to stand on.
The station mattes were chosen based on research by owner Brenda Berry, a veteran hair dresser of twenty years. Brilli’s mattes are the thickest and most therapeutic cushioning on the market ensuring the best support for legs and back. (Over time, standing on improper flooring and thin mattes can cause permanent damage to back and legs.)
To enhance the client experience, a private client lounge is available for relaxation and private color processing. Wine and champagne is served in the evenings and on weekends.

Charity Work
As declared in the mission statement, charity work is an important way for the business and its individual employees to give back. Management and employees have a passion for giving their time and talent to the community.
Brilli’s primary charity is a local battered women’s shelter, for which Brilli hosts seasonal make-over parties for the women. At the parties, stylists and technicians offer their services to make over these less fortunate women, and gift bags of jewelry and hair care product are given out. The party’s ultimate purpose is to enhance the self esteem of underprivileged women through improving appearance to inevitably enter into the work force to escape their abusers. These parties have proven incredibly inspirational and motivating to the battered women and particularly rewarding to Brilli’s employees. Each party is an awareness changing experiencing for all involved.
Children’s Memorial Hospital is the recipient of Brilli’s newest charity endeavor. Children’s Music Open Mics (the first of its kind) will be held at the Style Lounge to raise money for a new music room being built at the hospital. The events will be hosted by The Schnozberries (the eclectic children’s rock band comprised of Brilli’s own Brenda Berry and Jeff Pierce) and will coincide with the release of their benefit children’s CD.
Brilli also contributes to all clients’ charities. It is a way for Brilli to give back to clients through services donated to silent auctions. A byproduct of this win-win gesture is that it promotes the stylists as well.
